Following the success of the first sailing races (Optimist and Bug) organized by the Spetses Yacht Club (SYC) as part of the Spetses Armata 2014 celebrations the Municipality of Spetses, recognizing the club’s contributions in the short time of its existence, bestowed the honour, along with other prominent figures from the island, of placing a wreath in memory Kosmas Barbatsis and other revolutionaries from the historical Greek Revolution.
